Silicon Valley entrepreneur and venture capitalist with a lifelong commitment to agriculture and renewable energy. Founding shareholder of $800 million revenues Pacific Ethanol ($85 million Bill Gates equity). Founding shareholder of several publicly-held energy companies: Evolution Petroleum, Pacific Asia Petroleum, Particle Drilling Technologies, World Waste Technologies, and Solargen Energy. Has funded more than twenty-five companies as principal investor, and has founded seven public companies with a combined high market value of $4 billion.
Fran Barton, Director
Appointed to the Board in August 2012. From 2008, served as Chief Executive Officer in the consulting firm Barton Business Consulting LLC. Has served as CFO of UTStarcom, Atmel Corporation, Broadvision, Advanced Micro Devices, and Amdahl Corporation. Started career with 21 years at Digital Equipment Corporation, most recently as CFO of the Personal Computer Division of DEC. Served for three years with the US Army Special Forces. Holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. with a focus in finance from Northeastern University, and has completed the Stanford University Board of Directors certification program.

Appointed to the Board in 2008. Served as Secretary of US Department of Agriculture from 1981–1985 as a member of Ronald Reagan Cabinet. Currently Senior Legislative Advisor at Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz, P.C. Formerly member of Board of Directors of John Deere & Co. and Hormel Foods Corp. January 2002–January 2005, served as Executive Vice President of Food Marketing Institute. February 1986–January 2002, served as President of Food Distributors International.

Dr. Naomi Boness, Ph.D., Director
Managing Director of the Natural Gas Initiative at Stanford University and an experienced practitioner in the energy sector, with expertise in reservoir geophysics, environmental management, investment analysis and strategic planning. Held a variety of technical and management positions at Chevron Corporation, most recently overseeing upstream strategy and portfolio analysis, with particular emphasis on North America shale gas and global LNG projects. Invited member of the United Nations Expert Group on Resource Classification, an invited member of the Renewable Gas Advisory Committee for the Renewable Natural Gas Coalition and a former chair of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists Oil and Gas Reserves Committee. Holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Geophysics, a M.Sc. from Indiana University and a B.Sc. from the University of Leeds.
Lydia I. Beebe, Director
Appointed to the Board in November 2016. Currently Senior Counsel at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati PC, one of Silicon Valley’s leading law firms. Previously served for 38 years with Chevron Corporation. Promoted in 1995 to Corporate Secretary of Chevron, the first female corporate officer in Chevron Corporation’s 127-year history. 2007 became Chevron’s Chief Governance Officer, holding both offices until she retired in 2015. Holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of Kansas, a J.D. from the University of Kansas, as well as an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University. Also served on the board of directors of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc.
