Aemetis Appoints New Member to its Board of Directors

Aemetis Announces the Appointment of Francis Barton as Board Member and Chair of Audit Committee

CUPERTINO, Calif. – August 7, 2012 – Aemetis, Inc. (OTCPK: AMTX), an advanced fuels and renewable chemical company, announced today that on August 2, 2012, the Board of Directors of Aemetis appointed Francis Barton as a Member of the Board of Directors.  Mr. Barton will also serve as the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board, and as a member of the Governance, Compensation and Nominating Committee.

Mr. Barton brings to Aemetis his experience as Chief Financial Officer of several large growth companies.  During his career, Mr. Barton has served as CFO of $3 billion revenues UTStarcom; $2 billion revenues Atmel Corporation; $250 million revenues Broadvision; $5 billion revenues Advanced Micro Devices; and $2.2 billion revenues Amdahl Corporation.  Mr. Barton started his career with 21 years at $16 billion revenues Digital Equipment Corporation, most recently as CFO of the Personal Computer Division of DEC.

Mr. Barton’s diverse experience in high-tech and high-growth companies in the semiconductor, telecom and digital industries aligns well with Aemetis’ growth opportunities in advanced fuels and renewable chemicals.  Mr. Barton completed the Stanford University Board of Directors certification program, and is well versed in audit, governance and other key skills that are required of Board members.
