Job Description

Established Renewable Fuels Company based in Northern California seeks a Contracts Administrator to manage the drafting, revision, organization and compliance alerts related to business in the energy transition industry. Report directly to chief financial officer with regular interaction with executive management, plant management, construction management, sales and trading, finance and legal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for the EHS position, along with certain supportive duties. Other duties and responsibilities may be added by management as requirements for the position and facility evolve. This is a new position, and over time will likely include building a team to support all activities at the Industrial Complex for Aemetis and other tenants who occupy the facility.

Site Based:

  1. Implement and administer programs to promote and maintain required safety, health, and environmental policies to ensure worker safety, facility safety, and environmental compliance.
  2. Create or update site EHS plans, including Incident Response and Preparedness Plan, Hazardous Materials Business Plan, Site Safety and Security Plan, and other relevant documents relating to facility safety and compliance.
  3. Manage permitting and reporting processes for all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements including, but not limited to: State and Local Air Resources Boards, State Water Board, Cal/OSHA, US EPA, City of Riverbank, Stanislaus County, and all other relevant agencies.
  4. Conduct/oversee new hire safety and environmental orientation. Develop and maintain ongoing annual employee health and safety training programs.
  5. Conduct ongoing safety and environmental inspections to control occupational and environmental hazards.
  6. Perform job/project safety hazard analyses (PHA) with managers and shift supervisors.
  7. Coordinate and document plant safety training and SOP’s and compliance with all vendors, partners, and third-party contractors.
  8. Function as Safety Liaison with existing and new industrial tenants; function as Safety/Event Liaison with local police, fire, and other emergency response agencies.
  9. Work with plant personnel and HR to investigate, report, and track all accidents and incidents.
  10. Track effectiveness of Industrial Complex safety and environmental programs as appropriate and maintain a database of relevant safety metrics.
  11. Function as a liaison with State, Federal and local agencies on safety and regulatory issues in conjunction with the Facility Operations Manager.
  12. Develop and oversee Process Safety Management (PSM) procedures, and coordinate activities of PSM for employees and tenants.
  13. Establish and direct activities of Site Safety Committee.

Project Based

  1. Support the permitting and regulatory processes of ongoing new facility development and ongoing site improvement projects.
  2. Serve as primary EHS liaison with all outside vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with site safety, environmental, regulatory, and insurance requirements.

Education/Experience

  1. Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety & Health, or closely related fields.
  2. Documented EHS experience in an industrial setting, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
  3. Experience working with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of California regulations (Cal/OSHA, CA EPA, Air District etc.), and Federal regulations (OSHA, US EPA).
  5. Certificates from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) or the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (CIH),HAZMAT/HAZWOPER, OSHA 30, CHMM are desirable.
  6. Must be able to prepare clear, comprehensive, and concise technical reports for effective communication with a variety of internal and external entities. Must have effective presentation and communication skills for delivery of training programs and reports to facility employees and visitors, and regulatory agencies. Proficiency in MS Office software including MS Word and Excel.
